My wedding night felt perfect until my new husband whispered, “If you knew what I really did, you wouldn’t be wearing that ring”

The object inside the pocket was a small plastic evidence bag.

Inside it was a photograph.

I stared at it for several seconds before I understood what I was seeing.

It was a picture of me.

Not from our wedding.

Not from the hospital.

It had been taken the night of my accident.

My hands began shaking.

I turned the photograph over.

On the back, someone had written:

“She remembers nothing. Keep her that way.”

A cold wave passed through me.

Richard was still asleep across the room.

I looked at his peaceful face and suddenly the man I thought I knew seemed like a complete stranger.
